The couple sweetly chose Lily's middle name, Nora, in honour of Marty's beloved mother.

Marty told RSVP magazine that Jessica and her grandmother were 'very close,' adding that he always 'thought there might be a possibility she might name her after her.'

'It's very special,' he gushed of the sweet link between his first grandchild and his mum.

As well as adopting his new role as a grandad, the coming few days are set to be jam-packed for Marty as he preps for the 68th annual Eurovision Song Contest.

The 67-year-old will host RTÉ's live coverage of both semi-finals, which will air on Tuesday, May 7, and Thursday, May 9, as well as the Grand Final, held on Saturday, May 11.

Marty recently shared a snap of himself in studio as he revealed he's celebrating 25 years of commentary on the Eurovision. It comes just days after he celebrated RTÉ lyric fm's 25th birthday.

No doubt the 67-year-old will be counting down the seconds for the song contest to be over so that he can rush home to spend quality time with his baby granddaughter!
